“Mad About Medicine”

Story Procured and Edited by Ikshita Nagar

Hi, my name is Subhav Ramnani. I’m a final year medical student (6 year curriculum) at Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia.

I was born and brought up in Delhi, India. I completed my high school from Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi.

After finishing high school with my stream as medical. I, like any other student, decided to sit for every medical entrance exam there was. I was fully ready to study abroad/away from my home, my comfort zone and try to become independent. Our NEET exam was cancelled due to alleged reports about cheating and the scores were not released, what luck! Though I was selected in a few private universities to pursue dentistry and MBBS, I decided to wait it out. Before the NEET re-exam could take place, I tried my luck and gave an entrance exam for admission at Yerevan State Medical University in Armenia. And guess who cleared it? Your boy right here. And I decided to go with the flow. The university was a perfect fit for my goals and for everything I aspired to be.

Studying abroad is something I always dreamt of and this dream finally came, with a lot of hard work and late hours, might I add. It has made me more independent and has taught me some life lessons and skills which I probably would have missed out on. Or maybe not, but I’m glad it happened this way.

Curiosity has been my biggest drive that led me to chase after medicine as a career option.

Ours is a 6 year curriculum, so In my 5th year of medical school, I started a page of my own on Instagram and Facebook and named it ‘Mad About Medicine’, because I was, and still am. I started out with doodle posts, and have now expanded my horizons and have a YouTube channel and a Podcast series to go with it too. I started this page to help myself and everyone in the medical community by creating interesting, fun and valuable content, and to break the monotony that succumbs us every so often.

I sound like a very cool person, studying abroad, learning to become a doctor, have a YouTube page and what not, but here’s a little secret, I worked hard for it, and I still have to. And putting in the hours and the efforts never goes to waste, it is what gets you the life people wish they had. And I’m truly blessed to be living it.
