My Journey with Lexicon

Dr Krish Kherajani, Intern , Terna Medical College, Navi Mumbai

“Words are not just ink on paper; they are echoes of our thoughts, bridges to ideas, and windows to the soul.” When I first joined Lexicon in 2022, I saw it as just another platform, an outlet for creativity amidst the rigors of medical life. After all, I was just a little 2nd year MBBS kid, who knew little about the ways of the world. What I didn’t realize was that this magazine would become a part of my journey, shaping my voice, my perspective, and my ability to express the heartbeat of medicine beyond textbooks and stethoscopes.

The First Page:

Like any new endeavor, my first steps with Lexicon were cautious. I was initially selected as a social media team member, but as I settled in, I discovered the wonderful surprise that every member was encouraged to contribute articles, and I eagerly joined the ranks of writers. I remember hesitating before submitting my first piece, questioning if my words were worthy enough to be printed. Would they resonate? Did they matter? But Lexicon welcomed me—not as a polished writer, but as someone eager to learn, to contribute, and to evolve. The editorial briefs, the deadlines, vivid themes, the careful curation of content- all of it was a revelation. Writing for Lexicon wasn’t just about medical articles; it was about weaving medicine and life with humanity, fact with emotion, and knowledge with storytelling.

The Chapters of Growth:

With each edition, I grew- not just as a writer but as a thinker. I learned that medicine isn’t just about diagnoses and prescriptions; it’s about stories—stories of resilience, of hope, of loss, and of triumph. Every article I contributed, and every discussion I was a part of, added another layer to my understanding of the world of medicine.

“A writer is like a doctor of words, healing wounds we cannot see.” Through Lexicon, I found my own way of healing, not with scalpels or sutures but with the art of articulation.

Lexicon became more than just an online magazine, it became a close friend. It was a space where ideas were nurtured, where voices were heard, where perspectives collided and merged into something beautiful. The shared passion with other members for crafting meaningful content, and the sense of pride when each edition came to life made it all deeply fulfilling.

And now, as Lexicon celebrates its 50th edition, I look back with gratitude. I see the ink-stained pages of my own growth, the lessons I’ve learned, and the countless memories that make up my journey with this magazine. Along the way, I found many dear friends here, some who will remain lifelong companions.

They say that every great journey begins with a single step. For me, Lexicon was one of those steps, one that led me to discover the power of words, and the beauty of expression.

Here’s to Lexicon, to the stories yet to be told, and to the journey that continues.
