How to Win At The Game Of Life!
-Akshara Aditee Keertita
As I stood in front of two paths, I caught a deja vu of “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
But then, my mind focussed on the cars, parked at the emergence of each. One was old and less attractive. Sturdy and lasting, it looked, sure, but it was nothing compared to the other one!ll The other car was a long mile prettier, great bit more comfortable, and shiny new!!
On an impulse, I didn’t think, I jumped into the prettier car! No second thoughts!
****************************
Years later, after a hell of a terribly long journey, amusingly, I came back to the same junction! The path I’d taken, had led to the same point. And it was no awesome journey! It had fun, passion, what not?! But in the end, I was only where I began!
This time, I was wiser, my focus shifted to the paths, instead of the cars. The path with the new car, the one I had travelled earlier, was foggy, I could not see the end! As far as I could see, the path was a roller coaster. It had upside downs! It made no sense. But yet, it was exciting, intruiging. It promised adventure, and an adrenaline rush that I loved! But wasn’t that what lead to a bitter note in the end
The path with the older, less prettier car was clear, and I saw my destination clearly! It was a road, with bumps, speed breakers and red lights and obstacles, but..It lead staright to my destination! How could I have been so blind at that time?! I boarded the old, but right car this time!
In life we all face similar situations, where we are blinded by perks and rewards and we fail to remember the destination, our goals, our motives.
The destination matters as much as the journey!
You don’t need a sophisticated car for a simple destination. It’s simply a distraction, a compromise, to the prize at the end! And distractions are – a cycle of destruction…lets not fall prey to that cycle. A bit of discipline and self exploring will help you identify your personal distractions. Plz know them and try to avoid them.
If you don’t see your destination, you will fall prey to every distraction, imaginable!
Focus!!!
“The Road to Success is NoT Straight! There is a Curve called Failure! A Loop Called Confusion!Speed Bumps called Friends! Red lights called Enemies! Caution lights called Family! You will have Flat tires called JoBs!But if you have a spare called Determination! An Engine called Perseverance! A Driver called Will Power! Then, there is no stopping you!”
P.S. -To all those people who think that commitments, family, and friends are distractions, Im so sorry to disagree! They are Milestones not Distractions!
The original quote says that the two paths, of which only very little could be seen, did not appear much different:
“…Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same…”
I’ve found a lot of helpful info on your website particularly this page. Many thanks for posting.
