Having considerable research in your name makes your resume or application look better, provides you with an opportunity to become a dedicated medical professional, and opens your door to many future endeavours. It's one of the best ways to develop the skill set required for becoming a top-notch medical student and later a physician.
Lexicon- The medical magazine held 'The Beginner's Guide to Research' workshop on March 19 and 20 to help students understand the basics of research and how to approach it.
With two Phenomenal speakers, Dr Suranjana Basak – MD, DNB Internal Medicine and Dr Raviteja Innamuri – DPM, MD, DNB Psychiatry, the workshop aimed to provide the participants with a basic idea about undergraduate as well as post-graduate research.
The speakers, reflecting from their own experience, briefed the participants about steps involved in research, rookie mistakes, funding resources, choosing the perfect guide and ways to approach publications. They also listed several research opportunities available to medical students, which are unknown by mass. A question-answer round followed both sessions, and speakers facilitated participants with a certificate at the end of the workshop.
The workshop witnessed 55 registrations (cool fact – it was Lexicon's first workshop!). After the event's success, Lexicon has announced another workshop – 'Intermediate Guide to Research', which aims to guide students through research proposals, conducting the research, and finishing a paper within two months. Lexicon is also coming up with two student engagement programs –
1. Research Mentorship Program (A one-on-one program to guide you with your research & publication)
2. Clinical Mentorship Program (Online and offline) is a one-on-one clinical skills program in a speciality of your choice.
Lexicon believes in delivering A-grade knowledge, which is why it emphasizes learning about the system from the people who are already in it.
